Participating in the WAPC contest for the second time, using an FT450D + tri-band inverted-V antenna
Results
Contest duration: 8+6 hours. Claimed score: 6369, with 177 QSOs. Broke my personal best record. The score exceeded 1000 points within the first two hours of the contest, and surpassed 2000 points in two and a half hours. I estimate that I won't be able to break this speed myself in the short term. I have to say that the antenna and feedline system is indeed a very important component.
If I had participated in all bands, I might have directly obtained the WAPC certificate (except for the rare Macau)
Process
The inverted-V is oriented North-South. At the beginning, I made contact with many stations in Guangdong, Beijing, and Tianjin. However, it was regrettable that on the second day, a station from Hainan was sweeping the band with a strong signal, and I couldn't catch them.
On the first night around 9 PM, propagation might have dropped or there were other reasons (I feel it was mainly due to the antenna/feedline system). The frequency was completely clean, and I couldn't hear anything. I shut down the station at 10 PM and went home to sleep.
On the second day, I started operating around 8 AM until about 11 AM. A sudden major solar flare caused propagation to disappear, and it only returned to normal around 12 PM.
Afterwards, I contacted several stations in Indonesia and Japan.
Since the venue was borrowed, other enthusiasts came to observe on the day of the contest (the person on the far right is the OP)
Summary
Overall, achieving a score of 6000+ in my first single-band participation was quite unexpected. This proves that a good antenna and feedline system is indeed an essential part of communication. Although call signs were often unclear during the contest and required repeats from the other side, I improved my contesting and operating skills within less than 24 hours.
Finally, thanks to all domestic and international stations that contacted me during the contest. The log has been uploaded to major logging and contest websites.
