I have a Vax 160 that I've been using for over 10 years, and it has always worked properly.
Today, I purchased a new Senhaix 8800. Since my team and I set the channel frequency to 88.5 MHz for simulated sub-audio, today's primary testing was with the VX160 for sub-audio.
Something strange is happening. The 8800 has a sub-audio transmitter, and the VX160 can receive normally. However, the VX160 with a sub-audio transmitter only lights up but doesn't produce any audio. I have confirmed that the sub-audio settings are correct.
Therefore, I set up the Alinco vehicle transceiver to simulate a frequency of 88.5 MHz, and both the vx160 and the 8800 worked normally. However, when I switched to using the Alinco transceiver, the vx160 was unable to transmit audio on the 8800's frequency.
Therefore, we conducted tests on digital sub-audio DCS systems. Similar to the analog sub-audio phenomenon, the 8800 could correctly receive VX160 and vehicle data, while the 8800 could only recognize the sub-audio from the vehicle, but not the VX160 with sub-audio transmission.
Several test sets were performed with both simulated sub-audio and digital sub-audio, and the results were consistent regardless of which was selected.
Does anyone have any insights on this? Is it related to the sub-audio of the VX160 using a special encoding?
