Are you a millennial (born in the 1990s) or Gen Z (born in the 2000s)? Are you a college student or high school student? No qualifications, no major, no specific skills required – just passion, and rewarding prizes await!
To encourage high school and university students in Tangshan and surrounding areas who are interested in amateur radio, to develop their skills in radio communication technology, and to promote the legal, reasonable, and compliant development of amateur radio, BI3PIE proposes to organize the "JiaTang Youth Cup" Amateur Radio Skills Competition in Tangshan City, Hebei Province, China. This competition will combine elements from various domestic and international radio competitions, including technical skill points for national and international shortwave competitions.
Before the competition, online training sessions were organized. Students who are not currently employed but wish to participate will not be charged any registration fees. As this is a self-funded activity, we are currently unable to provide meals and accommodation. This event is purely for charitable purposes.
I. Competition Projects
1、 UV band handheld competition – individual regular communication race
Within the specified time, use your own U/V radio to communicate with another team's correct partner outdoors. Within the allotted time, use the designated radios and the same frequency to exchange information on the test papers and record it. The team that records the most correct information in the shortest amount of time wins (on-site competition).
2、 Shortwave one-way communication listening and recording competition
Using a shortwave radio to receive the fixed-frequency, single-sideband (SSB) wireless signals transmitted by the referee's control console, and recording the complete call sign of the person who transcribed the most calls on paper, determines the winner. (This can be done online or in person.)
3、 Individual solar angle measurement time trial
Participants use the ranging equipment provided by the organizing committee, finding the hidden radio station in the specified order. If there is any delay, failure to find the correct station, or incorrect sequence, the results are invalid. The participant with the shortest ranging time wins (on-site competition).
4、 Emergency Response Tournament
The specific competition plan for this project will be determined based on the number of participants, including team collaboration, DIY construction of shortwave antennas and emergency relay station installation and debugging.
II. Award Categories
The event will award prizes in categories such as first, second, and third place, as well as an award for the overall winner.
III. Competition Time
Currently scheduled for Friday, February 16, 2024, the seventh day of the Lunar New Year;
The application deadline is February 10th, New Year's Day.
IV. Competition Venue
The location will be determined based on the specific competition project, either in the Lu Bei District or the Lu Nan District of Tangshan City, Hebei Province.
